Room for You (New Song)

I am two weeks away from my due date.  I can hardly believe that any day we will see this new little face and our lives will be forever changed.  It feels so surreal.

In preparation for Heidi’s arrival, I’ve been rearranging, organizing, constantly cleaning and decluttering this tiny house.  All of my creative energy has gone into making a place for her in our home and in our lives.  It is an exhausting and exciting time.

When I was pregnant with Remy (about 2 years ago), I started writing a song with these lyrics:

“In every chamber of my heart there is room
There is room for you
We are rearranging every part to make room
To make room for you.”

It has taken me two years to finish.  But over Thanksgiving, while staying near the ocean at the house of friends, we finished this song.  It is a sweet love song that doesn’t have to be sung to a baby, but I wrote it for Remy, who was born right at the moment when winter turned into spring and all the trees started to bloom.  This little baby has brought more joy to our lives than I could have ever imagined.  And I finished the song for Heidi, who will be joining our family any day now.

We posted it up on youtube today.  Here I am two weeks before my due date singing (in all my pregnant glory!), and Randy is accompanying on the upright bass.  Hope you enjoy this song and a little glimpse of our family at the end.

Love to all of you.  Thank you for reading these posts all the way to the end and for your interest in our lives and music.

Room for You

Love grows quietly
A small seed will one day be a flowering tree
We took a drive
I was happy to be alive
And have you with me

The dogwoods were blooming
Wisteria hung from the trees
You did something to me
Like winter is touched by the spring

In every chamber of my heart
There is room
There is room for you
I am rearranging every part
To make room
To make room for you

Love grows deep and wide
Like the ocean tide
The swell and the break

Waters deeper than the seas
Rush through me
And I’m carried away

The wind sweeps the branches
Of oaks tangled tangled with Spanish moss
It touches our faces
And we’re carried away on the song

In every chamber of my heart
There is room
There is room for you
I am rearranging every part
To make room
To make room for you
